The ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 APEX is an ATX motherboard for gaming and overclocking, built on the Intel Z890 chipset for the LGA1851 socket. It supports Intel Core Ultra processors (Series 2) and uses a two-DIMM layout supporting up to 128GB of DDR5 memory at speeds up to 9600+ MT/s (OC), with XMP and AEMP III support.

The board is designed for overclockers, with dual BIOS, FlexKey, ReTry, ProbeIt and LN2 mode for extreme tuning, along with two 8-pin CPU power connectors. Q-Design features such as Q-Latch, Q-Release and Q-Slide simplify installation of M.2 drives and graphics cards.

Expansion includes two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots and six M.2 slots in total, including two on the included DIMM.2 module, with several slots supporting PCIe 5.0 x4, plus four SATA 6Gb/s ports. Connectivity includes Realtek 5Gb Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7 with Bluetooth 5.4, two rear Thunderbolt 4 ports, a front USB 20Gbps header with up to 60W charging, and ROG SupremeFX audio with the ALC4080 codec and a Savitech amplifier.
